Koko

While I write this with the heaviest of heart because my boy is no longer Earthside… instead of focusing on the sadness I just wanted some time to reminisce and celebrate the 14 years and 3 months I have had the pleasure of caring and loving him.

That day our family picked him up in August 2012 we had absolutely nothing ready for him. We picked him up in a cat crate that our neighbors gave us to borrow. I remember getting to the house to see the puppy, getting out of the car and locking eyes with each other. He was quietly sitting in the yard watching us; so small and so cute, and I remember thinking we’re going to be best friends forever.

From then on, we were everything to each other. He came on our vacations, camping trips, walks, hikes, even just a drive around the town. I remember our trip to Lake Erie during spring break of 2014 he was only about two when we discovered he could swim after falling in a freezing lake chasing after geese.

During high school & early college years he was my constant, and I knew he would always be waiting for me to get home. A loyal and true companion through and through.

He started slowing down in his later age, but even at the age of 9 he welcomed a new adventure buddy into the pack with open paws. Thea brought out another side of him, a loving, sparky, gentle side that I am so grateful and lucky to have experienced two amazing companions who grew up with me. Every house has felt like home, every road trip up and down the East, every sunset, every sunrise, every treat given – I will be savoring these days.

This is for you Kokonut. I love you SO much, you are everything to me. It has been my absolute life’s pleasure to watch you grow older – a sentiment I will never forget. You were never just a dog, you are mine. Thank you for being the best boy in the entire world. Thank you for being MY boy.

I know that Grandpa, Andy and little Tucker are up there waiting for you and you can run free & swim to your hearts content without struggle, without pain.

It won’t be long before I find something of yours, and reminisce about the time we shared, I’ll find peace in knowing nothing will stop the bond between you and I because we are eternally connected. There’s never enough time, but there’s more than enough love to last me my lifetime. I’ll see you again soon.

Thank you for the best years of my entire life.
KYG ❤️ 2012-2026
